Gabriel Osho was on he pitch for the entire duration as Auxerre stunned Marseille 3-1 at the Vélodrome, on Friday night.
Osho who recently got called up to Nigeria’s squad for this month’s AFCON qualifiers, didn’t have much to do on the night.
Auxerre had a dominant first half performance, putting three past the hosts, before Mason Greenwood’s second half penalty came as a consolation for Marseille.
It was Auxerre’s first away win in Ligue 1 this season, and also their first win against Marseille in 15 years.
Osho will be expected to join the Super Eagles camp in Abidjan from November 10, ahead of Nigeria’s game against Benin Republic.
Benin Republic host Nigeria in the penultimate AFCON qualifier, on November 14, and four days later the Super Eagles fly back home to Uyo for a date against Rwanda in their qualifying match.
Sitting top of Group D, a point against Benin Republic will be enough to seal a ticket for next year’s tournament in Morocco.
Osho Makes A Return
This is the second time Gabriel Osho has earned a call up to the Super Eagles.
His initial invitation was in March for the international friendlies against Ghana and Mali.
Osho, then a player of Luton Town in the Premier League, pulled out due to injury. He moved to Auxerre as a free agent at the end of last season.
The 26 year-old CB has been solid for Auxerre so far this campaign, making 9 appearances in Ligue 1.
Nigeria’s interim coach, Austin Eguavoen extended the invitation to Osho following the injury to Semi Ajayi, and the Reading youth product could get his first cap in International football.
