Chioma Ajunwa Okpara, a former Queen of track and ex-Super Falcons player, has shared valuable advice with current CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, Chiamaka Nnadozie.
Amid the praises Nnadozie has received for her spectacular achievement, Ajunwa Okpara explained the importance of humility and staying grounded.
Speaking about her conversation with the Paris FC goalkeeper, Ajunwa Okpara said, “In Africa, Nigeria, we have done a lot. If you come to African football or African athletics, whatever, we don’t struggle. And getting up there, like I told my little girl, Chiamaka, that she has to be humble, no matter what.”
She further emphasized the need for Nnadozie to remain humble even as she continues to achieve success.
“Winning these two times should not let her head loose. She has to be humble, maintain it, and because it’s easy to get up there.”
Ajunwa Okpara’s words sends a message to other athletes that while talent can elevate an athlete to great heights, staying grounded is key to long-term success.
