NPFL player Ikenna Paul has stated that the current state of the home-based Eagles team is a reflection of the domestic league in Nigeria which according to him is dying after back to back defeat surprisingly against Togo home-based national team in the CHAN qualifiers as well as in the WAFU cup preliminary stage.
Ikenna Paul speaking in a chat with brila.net said it will be a mirage expecting anything special from the young U23 players selected for the home-based Eagles team.
He also added that the coach should have opted for more experienced domestic league players who can somehow bring their experiences to bear when faced with tight situations.
“The truth is that the league is dying everybody knows about it. How can we not start a league then all of a sudden this U23 they took to WAFU, where are they playing?
“Are they playing in the sky or are they playing in another league that we don’t know about? Instead of picking experienced players to go and represent you.”
