The Nigeria Olympic Committee can build on the modest success of Team Nigeria at the XXI Commonwealth Games according to former National Sports Commission Director-General, Gbenga Elegbeleye.

Nigeria finished 9th overall in the medals table with a total of 24 medals (Gold 9, Silver 9, Bronze 6) with 89 athletes who competed in 10 sports.

In a chat with Brila FM, Elegbeleye insists Nigeria’s success at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games will be dependent on “the level of preparation”.

He urged the Sport Federations that took part in games to build on the performance of athletes that showed promise, as it could be the only guarantee for Nigeria’s success in Tokyo.
