Stanley Eguma is disappointed with how his Rivers United side relinquished their league crown, accusing the Super six organisers of poor show.

Eguma whose side finished third position on the table were dethroned by Enyimba after their 1-1 draw on Sunday.

The Pride of Rivers eventually finished behind Remo stars in the Champions League qualification race via goal difference.​

Speaking after the game, Eguma highlighted why his team struggled during the tournament.

” We plan to defend our title but unfortunately, we couldn’t, until the last day we had our game plan but we conceded an early goal, we came back in the second half and created a lot of scoring chances and we couldn’t convert.

Eguma, the current longest serving coach in the Nigeria Premier Football League, also questioned the schedule of matches during the Super six.​

“I think coming from the continent it was a long way, fatigue, wear and tear, it affected the boys till now we play matches almost every 48 hours”, he said.

Rivers United will compete in the CAF Confederations Cup next season.
