Ex-international Samuel Sodje has looked ahead to Sunday’s international friendly between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Terranga Lions of Senegal and has opined that it’s a good friendly that will test the fitness of the players and is a good test heading to Egypt.
Nigeria will battle Burundi, Madagascar, and Guinea in their group at the forthcoming tournament which starts on the 21st of June.
Speaking with www.brila.net, Sodje also emphasized on coach Rohr finding a system which the team would play at the tournament proper, while also adding that the performance of the team comes first before getting a win, although he attests to the fact that winning On Sunday will boost the players’ confidence.
“I think it’s a good game, a friendly, they should use it to test the fitness of the players, so I believe it will be a good test for the team heading to Egypt”.
“I think it’s about time we know the system we playing so it will be a good test”.
“I think the performance is more important, and if it comes with a win, happy days, but I think to have a good system and knowing the players more would be good”.
“Losing would not be good as it will affect the players’ confidence. Overall, they should try and get a win, but for me, the performance remains key, it remains the top priority”.
