Simy Nwankwo has started off the season as he means to end it; with goals, after the striker registered one in Crotone’s 4-3 win over Arezzo in a second round Coppa Italia match.
Simy, who scored 14 goals in 33 league appearances in Serie B last season, failed to catch the eyes of Nigeria’s Head Coach Gernot Rohr for the AFCON 2019, but that hasn’t slowed down the 1.98 meters forward.
On the day, Crotone were off the block early, scoring twice in the opening seven minutes of the game at the Stadio Ezio Scida.
The Nigeria international scored in the 7th minute to double Crotone’s lead and it opened a flood gate of goals with the visitors netting three of their own in the 10th, 17th and 23rd minutes.
Crotone leveled up before the half-time break and in the second-half grabbed the winner; in the 75th minute.
The Serie B side thus progress to the third round where they will face Serie A side SPAL on August 18.
