Super Eagles forward Moses Simon continued his impressive form, playing a decisive role in Nantes’ hard-fought 1-1 draw against Lyon in a Ligue 1 encounter at the Stade de la Beaujoire on Sunday.

Struggling to escape the relegation battle, Nantes needed a strong performance, and Simon delivered when it mattered most.

The Nigerian winger provided a crucial assist for Egyptian forward Mostafa Mohamed, whose late equalizer secured a vital point for the home side.

This marked Simon’s 17th Ligue 1 appearance of the season, with five goals and six assists underlining his importance to the team.

Lyon took the lead early in the 10th minute, with Ghanaian forward Ernest Nuamah finding the back of the net to assert the visitors’ dominance in the opening stages. Despite creating several opportunities, Nantes struggled to convert in the first half.

Their persistence, however, paid off in the 90th minute. Simon, showing his trademark flair, delivered a pinpoint assist for Mohamed to slot home and rescue a crucial point for Nantes.

Simon played the full match, registering 55 touches and completing 15 of 21 passes at a 71% accuracy rate.

He also created one big chance, delivered one key pass, and attempted 13 crosses, two of which found their target, showcasing his creativity and work rate in attack.

The draw moves Nantes up to 14th place on 18 points in the Ligue 1 standings, keeping them just three points clear of the relegation zone as their battle for survival continues.
