Simon outshines Messi, Mbappe and Neymar as Nantes pummeled PSG

by Tunde Williams

Moses Simon played a crucial role in Nantes’ victory against Paris St-Germain in the Ligue 1 on Saturday night.

The Nigerian winger was in scintillating form for the Caneries as they trashed the Parisien 3-1 at home.

PSG paraded their superstar front three of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, but it was the Nigerian and his teammates who shone like million stars.

Simon created the first goal of the game scored by French star Randal Kolo Muani in the fourth minute. It was his seventh assist of the campaign.

Simon thought he had got his name on the scoresheet before half time break, only for Keylo Navas to deny him with a fine save.

The former Genk’s forward later created three scoring chances for his teammates before the end of the game.

Nantes doubled their lead in the 16th minute Nantes, through Quentin Merlin before Ludovic Blas converted a penalty in the first half added time to make it 3-0.

Neymar pulled one back for PSG two minutes into the second half, only for him to miss a penalty in the 59th minutes. His tame effort was saved by Alban Lafont.

Nantes, however, held on for a vital victory and it was enough to move the from 10th to fifth in Ligue 1.
