Sign Quality Players – Obasogie Advises Nigerian Clubs Representing on Continental Stage
41
Bendel Insurance goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie has offered strategic advice to Nigerian football clubs representing the country in upcoming continental competitions.
Obasogie says the team should focus on quality over quantity in player recruitment, urging clubs like Remo Stars, Enugu Rangers, Enyimba, and El Kanemi Warriors to bolster their squads with top talent.
Obasogie also recommended that these clubs consider signing foreign players to elevate the squad’s competitiveness.
He noted that the presence of foreign professionals would push Nigerian players to enhance their performances, though he pointed out that the higher salaries demanded by foreign players could pose a financial challenge.
“When you are going out for this continent, you need to go out because it’s not going to be easy. When you are going to play in this club, you also need to go out and look for foreign players who will make a difference for the team to challenge you in the club.“
“I urge them to also go out to look for players also to boost up the team. So if you are going to a foreign player outside, we will help you to play. We will also help you to play for your own best player here.”
“It’s okay if you want to boost your team, but if any player you see is not that okay for the team, you have to freshen up and boost up your team also. For me, if any Nigerian player joins you, it’s very okay, but I believe if you can go outside and be a proper player, it will also make everyone come to the table.”
