Horoya AC of Guinea Nigerian striker Bolaji Shakin has lamented missing out on the opportunity to win the Guinea Ligue Un’s winners medal following the termination of the league’s topflight due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Shakin speaking in a chat with brila.net said the decision was tough considering that his side Horoya were well placed to win the title but will simply have to respect the decision to end the league and hope for future success as a player citing the importance of health as a prerequisite that can’t be compromised.
“It is very painful that we couldn’t finish the league because by the first round we were like 8points to the second position but you know in this life, if you’re healthy you can still win medals or trophies.
So I believe if they say we should stay at home, we have to respect it because if you die, you won’t win the league, so it’s better to be alive than to win medals and die.”
