Sevilla manager Garcia Pimienta has revealed that Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho could be on his way out of the LaLiga club before the transfer window closes.
Iheanacho, who joined Sevilla on a free transfer after leaving Leicester City last summer, has struggled to find his footing in Spain.
The 28-year-old has made nine LaLiga appearances, primarily coming off the bench, and is yet to score a league goal.
While he has managed three goals in the Copa del Rey, his lack of consistent playing time has fueled speculation about a potential move.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Pimienta confirmed that several clubs have expressed interest in the former Manchester City forward.
“The only thing I can say about Kelechi is that after the holidays, in the first training session. He had a small problem and it is true that he has offers from other clubs. Right now it is not a serious injury,” Pimienta said.
“It is just some minor problems that he has, and he could not train yesterday. He has not trained today and he will not be able to travel for tomorrow’s game.
We do know that he has offers from other clubs, I don’t know if they are really interested, at least. I don’t know if this will end up happening or not. However it is true that he cannot travel due to some minor problems.”
Since his move to Sevilla, Iheanacho has struggled to rediscover the form that made him a key player during his time in the Premier League.
A departure from the Andalusian club could offer him the opportunity to secure more playing time and revive his career.
With the transfer window now open, all eyes will be on the forward’s next move. Will a new club provide the platform Iheanacho needs to reignite his goal-scoring touch? Only time will tell.
