Scoring against Rivers United is a dream come true – Stephen Gopey

Stephen Gopey says scoring for Wikki Tourists of Bauchi against Rivers United is a dream coming true.

Gopey spent the first half of the 2020-2021 season with Rivers United, but moved Wikki Tourists during the mid season window club after he was declared surplus to requirement.

The midfielder captained The Savanah Elephants on his return to the Adokiye Amiesimaka’s Stadium and was thorn in the flesh of his former side all through the clash.

His perfect header from a corner kick inside the opening 4 minutes put Wikk Tourists ahead and they were seconds away from famous win, before Malachai Ohawume rescued the hosts with equaliser.

Speaking at post match presser, Stephen Gopey, disclosed that scoring against his former side is a dream come true and he’s happy to make a good impression.

“It was a dream to score against my former team to prove myself. The draw was like a win for us, we had a great game.” He told journalists.

Following the draw, Wikki Tourists have now opened three points gap ahead of 17th place Sunshine Stars as the battle to beat relegation hot up.
