Saudi Arabia has appointed Nigerian Olympic gold medalist Enefiok Udo-Obong as the new Technical Director of the Saudi Athletic Development Programme.

Udo-Obong, who won gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, will assume his new role this weekend.

The Olympian will lead the Saudi Arabian team to the Olympic Games in Paris, starting on July 26.

Prior to this role, Udo-Obong served as the Technical Director of the Lagos State Athletics Association.

His appointment follows that of Michael Emenalo, another Nigerian, who was recently named the Technical Director of the Saudi Arabia Professional Football League.
