Napoli manager, Rudi Garcia said Victor Osimhen remains the team’s penalty taker despite refusing to take the duty for the second consecutive games.

Osimhen refused to take penalty against Udinese after he was mocked on the club’s TikTok account after his miss against Bologna.

The striker again passed on the responsibility to Matteo Politano during Napoli’s 4-0 win against Lecce on Saturday.

Garcia, however, provided an explanation to why the striker did not take the penalty against Lecce.

“Not today, he (Osimhen) was not the first choice seeing as he didn’t start the game, but someone else handed it to Politano.

“In any case, I usually write a list so there is an order and no war over who takes a penalty,” Garcia said after the game.

“Here it feels like the reverse, they are in a race to hand the ball over to someone else, I think I like it better that way!” He said.

Napoli defeated Lecce 4-0, with Osimhen scoring the Partenopei’s second goal few minutes after coming on.
