Rúben Amorim Awaits Visa Clearance to Begin as Manchester United Manager

Rúben Amorim’s start as Manchester United’s new head coach is on hold as the club awaits confirmation of his work visa.

The announcement of his appointment came on November 1, with the club noting that it was “subject to work visa requirements.”

Amorim is scheduled to arrive in Manchester but cannot officially take charge until the visa process is completed.

However, until approval is confirmed, Amorim will be unable to lead training sessions or participate in team activities.

Most of United’s first-team players are currently on international duty following their 3-0 victory over Leicester at Old Trafford on Sunday, so Amorim’s absence may not immediately impact team preparations.

Those not called up for national teams have been given time off during the international break.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, the caretaker manager who led the team during Amorim’s transition, completed his interim tenure on a positive note.

Reflecting on his time in charge, Van Nistelrooy said, “I appreciated the clear communication of the club; it was an interim spell for a short term… It could have been one or two games — they kept me in the loop — it was four, and for me, it was important to have that clarity.”

“For me, the most important thing is the football club, and I am here to support that and I want to continue that. The communication was that after the block of four there will be communication towards you and your colleagues.”

Amorim is set to oversee his first match as United’s head coach on November 24, when the team faces Ipswich Town at Portman Road.
