A former Brazilian international teammate of Ronaldinho is in critical condition after stabbed during a botched carjacking.
Reports from the city of Joao Pessoa claims former Udinese player Warley – capped four times for Brazil in a near 20 year career – was rushed to hospital after the late-night attack. The midfielder played in the same Confederations Cup side as superstar Ronaldinho.
Chilling CCTV showed the former Gremio man emerge from a black saloon covered in blood and holding his midriff as he went pleading for help at a friends apartment.
He was let in by a doorman before he was rushed to hospital by the pal minutes later.
Brazilian daily Globosporte say the act of violence has ‘reverberated around the country’ after the late night crime.
The midfielder was set for a second round of surgery today in a private hospital in local capital Paraiba after being stabbed twice in the back during the attempted robbery.
Blood stains were left in the front seat of car.
Warley retired from football last year after turning out for 16 clubs and is currently working as a director at Rio de Janeiro side Botafogo.
