Rolandson Odey Urges NFF to Hire Indigenous Coach for Super Falcons

Former Super Falcons assistant coach, Rolandson Odey has called on the Nigerian Football Federation to consider hiring an indigenous coach to lead the team.

Odey highlighted the success local coaches have achieved with the team, both in Africa and globally, arguing that they have outperformed their foreign counterparts.

He referenced the contributions of local coaches throughout the team’s history.

“Apart from the foreign exchange or the economic situation in Nigeria, just fact-check anything I am saying now.”

“Right from the advent of the Super Falcons in 1991 through the World Cups that we’ve been to, to the last World Cup in 2003, this is the coach (Randy Waldrum) that has done the best, got into the quarter-finals.”

Odey dismissed the notion that foreign coaches have been more effective.

“Forget about the stories that try to give a dog a bad name. Indigenous coaches are still the best.”

He urged the NFF to open up the selection process.

“Let whoever wants to come in, come out, and then we pick the best.”
