Rohr talks tough ahead of Cape Verde clash

Ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying match between Nigeria and Cape Verde, Super Eagles Head Coach Gernot Rohr has likened his players to veteran Hollywood actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger popularly known as Commando.

Rohr said he’s trusting his players to go all odd and secure the maximum points for the people of Nigeria.

The match will be played on the artificial turf at the Estadio Municipal Aderito Sena, Tuesday afternoon.

In a brief chat with the media, Rohr admitted that his team has many problems with the shortage of players and struggling with the hot weather, but remains confident in their ability to beat their hosts.

“So we try to play good football. We have changed the team, 10 players are not here, we’re only 19 because we had this problem with UK players but also with family problems or Covid problems.

“It is a challenge, but we’re commando, we want to win this game with this team. I trust in these boys who will be playing perhaps for the first time with the Super Eagles but if they’re here then they deserve it, they are good.

“So, we will see what can happen in this match because we know that Cape Verde also have to play; they have to win it, they did only draw in the first match and we will see.”
