Super Eagles technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has opened up about his decision to play Maduka Okoye rather than Ikechukwu Ezenwa in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with Brazil on Sunday following Uzoho injury.
Uzoho started in goal for the Super Eagles on Sunday before twisting his leg in the 62 minutes only to make way for Maduka after being stretched off.
Coach Gernot Rohr said Ezenwa has not played for a few months and he was not even part of CHAN team, while Maduka has been competitive with his club.
“We decided to play Maduka, because Ezenwa didn’t play since few months ago, not even in the CHAN team, so we decided to play Maduka because of his competitiveness with his club.
Hopefully, Uzoho can come back on time, because we have two important games left this year, against Benin Republic in Nigeria and away to Lesotho in view of the 2021 Africa Cup Of Nations”.
