Rohr heap praises on debutants Terem Moffi, Abraham Marcus & Peter Olayinka

Gernot Rohr has heaped praises on the trio Peter Olayinka, Terem Moffi, and Abraham Marcus following their performance against Cameroon at the Stadion Wiener Neustadt on Friday.

Moffi and Marcus made their Super Eagles debut in the encounter, while Olayinka was making his second appearance for the West African giants.

Terem Moffi came in for Paul Onuachu, while Abraham Marcus and Peter Olayinka replaced Alex Iwobi and Oghenekaro Etebo respectively.

Although the trio couldn’t save the three-time African champions from defeat, Rohr insisted, he’s delighted to see them make huge impressions.

The former Bordeaux coach stressed further the trio could be involved from the start in the second game on Tuesday, due to the performance.

“It was an opportunity to see Moffi, he did well. Olayinka also had a good game on the right, at the end of the match. We also saw Marcus, he was good as well. Then there was Valentine who came in for Ekong in the end.” he said in the post-match conference.

It was interesting, but we’ll see again in the next game if they can contend for places in our 23-man list.

“Now there’ll be competition and it’s good to give them a chance and make all of them happy that they’re playing.”

Lastly, Rohr gave kudos to the entire team, stating that they gave Nigerian football a very good image.

“The team did the maximum, they gave a good image of football because they never gave up. The victory is not the most important in friendlies, it’s important to learn to progress, to be ready for the next competition.” He concluded.

André-Frank Zambo Anguissa who played for Fulham in England scored the lone go that gave Indomitable Lions the victory.

The Super Eagles will be aiming to avenge the defeat when both sides meet for the second game on Tuesday.
