Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr said his team is battle-ready for the Ukrainians in Tuesday’s international friendly game.
Rohr will be prosecuting the game in the absence of four key players like Wilfred Ndidi, Kenneth Omeruo, Henry Onyekuru, and Captain Ahmed Musa, but the Franco-German will be handing the likes of Maduka Okoye, Emmanuel Dennis, Joe Aribo and Josh Maja their international debut on Tuesday.
The 2019 AFCON bronze medal-winning coach also said he will be using the game to fine-tune the team’s build-up towards 2021 and 2022 African Cup of National and FIFA 2020 World Cup qualifiers.
“This game is a big opportunity for us to begin our build-up towards the 2021 AFCON and the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. Some of our key players retired from the team after the last AFCON in Egypt and some others are not here owing to injuries and other issues.”
“We have some new and young players here so it is a good opportunity to see what they can bring to the team. We hope for a good game tomorrow against a very solid team playing at home,” He concluded.
Rohr concluded that the team won’t be missing the services of the established stars that pulled out of the game.
