Roberto Bianchi vies for Golden Eaglets Role

Former Angola U23 and Indonesia U23 head coach, Roberto Bianchi has emerged as a candidate to potentially become the first foreign coach of Nigeria’s Men U-17 national team.

Bianchi’s coaching journey spans various continents with notable stints in Brazil, Spain, Belgium, Jordan, Angola and Uganda.

Until June 2023, he served as the manager of Ugandan Premier League side Vipers SC, albeit for only six months before being relieved of his duties due to poor results.

According to a report by ScoreNigeria, Bianchi has thrown his hat into the ring by submitting his application to take the helm of the Golden Eaglets.

If appointed, he would not only break a long-standing tradition but also become the first foreigner to guide the Eaglets.

Bianchi’s expertise extends beyond the touchline, as he has worked as a scout for esteemed La Liga clubs like Villarreal and Valencia.

Armed with a CAF A license and fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, Bianchi aims to tackle the challenges of coaching a diverse team like the Golden Eaglets head-on.
