A goal in each half by Alex Oyowah and Deputy Echeta condemned Rangers to their ninth defeat of the campaign.
Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side struggled to find their rhythm through out the match.
Alex Oyowah heads Rivers United in front four minutes after half hour mark, connecting with Kazie Enyinnaya’s cross.
Rivers United sealed the win with eight minutes left on the clock following an Alex Oyowah’s excellent solo run that was completed with Deputy Echeta tap in from close range.
The result lift Rivers United to 13th on the table, although that have six game in hand, while Rangers remain on top of the table with two points lead over Enyimba in second place.
