Nigeria Premier Football League giants Rivers United and Enyimba are in a race to sign Bendel Insurance goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie.
Rivers United, urgently needing a replacement for Victor Sochima after his contract expired at the season’s end, have identified Obasogie as a top target.
Enyimba is also searching for a new goalkeeper following the departure of their first-choice, Ojo Olorunleke, to Sudan.
Reports indicate that Remo Stars and Plateau United have also shown interest in the Bendel Insurance shot-stopper.
Rivers United’s head coach, Finidi George, and Enyimba’s head coach, Yemi Olarenwaju, are reportedly in direct talks with Obasogie.
Obasogie, who secured the golden glove award last season with a record 18 clean sheets, has been the first-choice goalkeeper for Bendel Insurance for the past three seasons.
His remarkable performance marks the highest number of clean sheets in a single NPFL season.
Rivers United and Enyimba are in the process of rebuilding their squad for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign.
Rivers United closed the season in eighth place while Enyimba finished third and qualify for CAF Confederation Cup.
