Defending champions Rivers Angels handed FC Robo Queens a footballing lesson during their 3-0 Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) win at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium on Wednesday.
A brace from Cynthia Aku and Chinaza Uchendu’s well taken spot kick proved to be enough to push the Jewel of Rivers to the top in Group A.
All the goals were scored in the space of nine minutes at the home stretch, with Rivers Angels going ahead in the 68th minutes courtesy of Aku.
The Edwin Okon managed team increased their lead in the 74th minute when Uchendu slotted home from the penalty spot.
Rivers Angels extended their advantage three minutes later when Aku latched on to an intelligent pass from substitute Mercy Amanze to grab a brace for herself.
Robo then laid siege on their tormentor’s goal, but they were unable to convert any of the chances that came their way.
The home team also pushed forward, looking to add to their tally.
Despite all their efforts, neither side could add to their respective tallies and the match ended 3-0, lifting Rivers Angels to the summit.
