Barcelona’s plans to bolster their midfield took another turn with the potential signing of Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez now in jeopardy, and Wilfred Ndidi has become a likely option according to some Spanish media outlets.

Previously, top priorities for Barcelona reportedly include Mikel Merino, Amadou Onana, Joshua Kimmich, and Bruno Guimaraes.

However, financial constraints have made these prospects unrealistic target, and Sporting Director Deco, is said to seek alternatives including soon to be out-of-contract Ndidi.

According to Sport, Deco is eyeing the Nigerian international as a cost-effective solution, appreciated for his physical presence on the field.

Although not a priority, Ndidi’s potential transfer is contingent on Barcelona’s financial clarity, which is still pending.

Leicester City has offered Ndidi a contract renewal as they celebrate their return to the Premier League, following a successful promotion campaign under Enzo Maresca.
