Premier League side Liverpool have made preliminary contact with Algeria and Leicester City attacker Riyad Mahrez, according to L’Équipe.
A deal for Mahrez would only be pursued if Philippe Coutinho joins Barcelona , with Thomas Lemar also another individual who the Reds would logically turn to after their pursuit of their French international from the summer.
On Coutinho, Spanish Journalist Guillem Balague tweeted :
On Coutinho. Player hasn’t travelled to Dubai with squad. He wants it done ASAP.
Willing to put some money towards fee. The figure should be close to €160M.
No agreement yet between clubs but he would like it all done by next week. FCB would like to make announcement “very soon”.
Liverpool is trying all they can to convince him to stay till the end of the season once deal with Barcelona has been agreed.
And they are not actively looking for a replacement after trying to get Keita earlier.
