Remo Stars completed a remarkable double victory over Enyimba in the Nigeria Premier Football League, marking a historic moment in their club’s history.

The match, held in Ikenne on Wednesday, saw Remo Stars edge past the defending champions with a narrow 1-0 win, courtesy of a second-half substitute Olamilekan Adams’ decisive goal.

After suffering a humiliating 4-1 defeat against Sporting Lagos in the Southwest Derby just days prior, Remo Stars were determined to bounce back and stay in the title race.

Conversely, Enyimba aimed to maintain their position at the top of the table and thwart Remo’s ascent.

The game initially lacked clear-cut chances, with the first real opportunity coming in the 27th minute from the visitors’ Joseph Atule, whose effort was denied by Remo’s goalkeeper, Kayode Bankole.

Despite both teams pressing for a breakthrough, it wasn’t until the second half that the deadlock was finally broken.

Adams, injecting energy into Remo’s attack, narrowly missed two chances before finding the back of the net in the 71st minute, capitalizing on a flick-on from fellow substitute Haruna Hadi.

Although Remo Stars had opportunities to extend their lead, Enyimba’s goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke made crucial saves to keep his side in contention.

However, Remo held on to their slender lead, securing a historic double over the reigning champions.

Remo Stars are fourth in the league with 42 points, and have a game in hand, solidifying their position as contenders for the title.
