Relegation threatened FC Ifeanyi fought back to secure a point against fellow strugglers MFM FC of Lagos at the Soccer Temple in Agege on Sunday.
The Olukoya Boy needed outright win to move further away from danger zone but second half fight back back from the Anambra Warriors saw both side share the spoils.
After a close exchange from both side, MFM FC took the lead after 36 minutes of play. Justice Zachariah finished off a neatly-threaded pass from new entrant Akanni Elijah.
MFM dropped their tempo and allowed the visitors to fight their way back into the match in the second half.
The equaliser came in the 64th minutes when Lukman Aliu poked home a rebound into the net after goalkeeper Adeniyi Bamidele spilled Ekene Awazie’s shot.
MFM thought they have regained their lead with almost last kick of the game when Kelechi Ogor tapped in from close range but the MFM FC defender was flagged offside by the assistant referees .
Following the draw MFM now garnered 21 points from 19 matches and they seat just two points above the relegation zone.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah on their part remain rooted in the drop zone with just 16 points from 18 games played.
