Rangers defender, Leon Balogun has admitted that his team deserved their 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday.

Marley Watkins’ late goal sealing the defeat and the result further hampers Rangers’ Scottish Premiership campaign, pushing them further behind in the title race.

Balogun, who came on as a second-half substitute for Robin Propper, was making his first appearance since early September.

Despite his introduction, Rangers were unable to prevent the defeat and will now need to regroup as they look to bounce back in the league.

Reflecting on the performance, Balogun admitted that Rangers fell short of expectations and asked supporters for patience as the team works to improve.

“The dressing room is quiet and frustrated, and rightly so,” Balogun told Rangers TV.

“We didn’t play well enough, and now we have to face the consequences.”

The 36-year-old Nigerian international added that the players are as upset as the fans, but insisted they are determined to turn things around.

“The supporters have every right to be angry, and we feel the same,” he said. “No one steps onto the pitch to settle for a draw or a loss, but today we didn’t do enough.”

Balogun pointed to Kilmarnock’s solid home record but stressed that it was no excuse for Rangers’ performance.

“You know it’s always tough here, but we didn’t bring the necessary aggression or fight to earn the right to play. We lacked that edge, and while the defeat feels harsh, it’s not undeserved.”
