Glasgow Rangers and Denmark legend Brian Laudrup says Joe Aribo left a huge vacuum when he missed Rangers’ clash with Livingston last weekend.
Aribo who has been in good form for the Steven Gerrard’s team sat out of the Weekend game goalless draw at Livingston due to ankle injury.
Without Aribo, the Gers struggled for fluidity and failed to create enough scoring chances as the game ended without a goal.
Speaking to Daily mails about the disappointing results, Laudrup said Aribo was a big miss in the Rangers team and it was clear the team suffered in his absence.
“There are times when it takes the unexpected to win a match. A combination of quick thinking and even quicker feet,” Laudrup told Daily Mail.
“Without Joe Aribo, Rangers lacked that spark against Livingston on Sunday. The longer the game went on, the more I felt he was really missed.” he said.
Laudrup added that Steven Gerrard could be facing similar problems, should the Nigerian international failed to recover for the game against Kilmarnock on Saturday.
“Clearly, Steven Gerrard will be hoping Aribo’s ankle injury heals before Kilmarnock visit Ibrox on Saturday. To me, there are two aspects to what the 24-year-old does. There is obviously his own game and the skill-set he brings.”
“If that is not done as quickly as possible, it becomes hugely difficult against a team such as Livingston — who often played with six across the back.
“There will be no space where you want it. The space will be areas you cannot really exploit,” Laudrup concluded.
Aribo has scored once in three matches he played this season, he was also named the of in two of the three matches.
The Nigeria international was voted Rangers best young player for last campaign and also won goal of the season award.
