There are four games left in the current NPFL season
Enugu Rangers head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has tempered expectations surrounding his team’s pursuit of the NPFL title, emphasizing the ongoing process of building a strong squad.
“Maybe after the next game against Enyimba International, we can talk about it.” – Ilechukwu
Despite currently leading the table by two points ahead of Enyimba and Remo Stars, Ilechukwu remains cautious about discussing title ambitions, doubling down on his stance about Rangers actively chasing NPFL glory.
“I don’t want to talk about league title because it’s still far,” said Ilechukwu. “Remo Stars are talking about it, Enyimba are talking about it, Lobi Stars are talking about it.”
“So many teams who have the capacity are talking about it. We are underdogs, we are the junior for them. Not because of our pedigree, because Rangers are a very top team in pedigree. But because of this season’s structure, we’re building.
“Can’t you see so many buildings in Lagos? Don’t you see that we’re building? We’re building and keep on building,” Ilechukwu explained.
He hinted that their upcoming match against Enyimba could be pivotal in shaping the title conversation.
“Maybe after the next game against Enyimba International, we can talk about it, but not yet now,” Ilechukwu concluded.
