Randy Waldrum drops Okobi from Super Falcons World Cup squad

Head coach Randy Waldrum has unveiled his Super Falcons players for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The list released on Friday, includes Striker Asisat Oshoala, 38-year-old Onome Ebi and two Falconets stars Tosin Demehin and Rofiat Imuran.

 

 

Leicester City’s defender Ashleigh Plumptre and Athletic Madrid midfielder Rasheedat Ajibade also made the cut.

However, there was no place for veteran attacking midfielder Ngozi Okobi in the World Cup bound squad.

Nigeria will play Canada, co-host Australia and the Republic of Ireland in that order at the “biggest-ever” FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in history, with 32 teams set to debut at the championship – same number as for the men’s finals in Qatar last year.

Nine times African champions, Nigeria, will arrive in Australia on Tuesday, 4th July for a 15-day final camping before the tournament begin on July 20.​
