Top seed and Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri has expressed delight at finally ending as champion after retaining the 2019 ITTF challenge Nigeria Open despite having to play the pain barrier.
Aruna speaking in a chat with www.brila.net after the triumph against Austria’s Robert Gardos the competitions number 4 seed in the final (15-13, 11-3, 8-11, 11-6, 10-12, 11-1).
Aruna revealed after the triumph that he had to play through the pain barrier and l at a point contemplated giving up. He stressed that he hopes to maintain the same level whole giving thanks to God and the medical team for helping him through.
“I’m very happy and I hope to keep the semi level. It was most difficult for me. I was playing through pain but of course I didn’t give up even though I was almost giving up. I give thanks to God and medical team.”
