Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna delivered a remarkable performance at the WTT Champions Frankfurt 2024, securing a big comeback victory over Japan’s world No. 5 Tomokazu Harimoto in a five-game showdown (7-11, 11-13, 11-5, 14-12, 11-3).
The match, held at the Suwag Energie Arena, saw Aruna rally from a two-game deficit.

Set 1: Harimoto won 11-7, taking an early lead.
Set 2: Harimoto continued his strong start, winning 13-11 in a close set.
Set 3: Aruna began his comeback with a decisive 11-5 win.
Set 4: Aruna leveled the match by winning a tense set 14-12.
Set 5: Aruna dominated the final set 11-3 to secure the match victory.
After the match, Aruna was proud of his victory, acknowledging Harimoto’s skill.
“It was a tough match against a top player like Harimoto. I had to dig deep and fight for every point. I’m proud of this victory,” Aruna said.
He also praised the energetic crowd, saying, “Their support pushed me to the finish line.”
As Aruna progresses, Egypt’s Hana Goda also remains in contention for the title, while compatriots Omar Assar and Dina Meshref exited the tournament.
The WTT Champions Frankfurt offers a substantial prize pool of $500,000, with singles champions earning $30,000 and 1,000 ITTF ranking points.
