“Prove Yourself for Super Eagles” – Utaka Issues Bold Challenge to Iwobi

Former Super Eagles forward John Utaka has lauded Alex Iwobi’s impressive performances for Fulham this season, while urging the midfielder to maintain consistency when representing Nigeria.

Iwobi has been in the form of his life, playing a pivotal role in Marco Silva’s Fulham squad. His brilliant display continued on Thursday as he scored twice to secure a 3-1 victory over Brighton at Craven Cottage.
The Nigerian international has now recorded five goals and three assists in the Premier League this season, already matching his tally from the previous campaign, where he managed five goals and two assists in 30 games.
Speaking on No Holds Barred interview with Ifeanyi Udeze on Brila FM, Utaka praised Iwobi’s talent but emphasized the importance of consistency, particularly when playing for the national team.
“Alex is a good player; we all know that. But he has to keep the same determination when he comes to the national team because this is the country, not a club side,” Utaka remarked.
“When you come to the national team, you don’t have a year to prepare or play together; you only have about a week. So, players have to be even more serious and committed to putting in the work.”
Utaka further highlighted the need for Iwobi to bring his club-level commitment and energy to the Super Eagles.
“It’s about consistency. He has to carry that same consistency from the club to the national team and give 200%, just as he does for his club.”
Iwobi will head into Fulham’s next match against his former club, Arsenal, on Sunday, brimming with confidence after his stellar showing against Brighton.
