Premier League referee, David Coote has been suspended after multiple shocking videos surfaced, showing him using drugs and making derogatory comments about football figures and clubs.
The 42-year-old official was filmed snorting what appears to be cocaine while officiating at the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament earlier this summer.
In an exclusive video obtained by The Sun, Coote is seen with wide eyes using a rolled-up US banknote to inhale a four-inch line of white powder.
The video, dated July 6, was taken in a hotel room provided by UEFA, a day after Coote had worked as a support VAR official for the Euro 2024 quarter-final between France and Portugal.
Coote reportedly sent the video to a friend, and a second image from a hotel in Frankfurt, dated July 1, showed similar drug use, with six chopped-up lines of white powder next to his credit cards.
The whistleblower, who wishes to remain anonymous, also revealed further shocking claims, including Coote’s offensive remarks about former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool player Andy Robertson.
Coote allegedly referred to Klopp as a “German c**t” and described Robertson as a “Scottish prick.”
His comments about Everton’s Goodison Park also raised eyebrows, with Coote calling it the “worst place to referee” due to abusive fans, and expressing dislike for officiating at other stadiums like Bournemouth and Coventry’s Ricoh Arena.
The referee’s actions have raised serious questions about his fitness to officiate, and if he is found guilty of any wrongdoing, Coote faces losing his position and a significant loss of earnings—potentially over £1 million in the coming years.
The investigation into Coote’s conduct is ongoing, with both the PGMOL and FA committed to determining the full extent of his actions and any potential disciplinary measures.
