Plateau United Boss Offers Continent-bound Teams Nuggets
109
Head coach of Plateau United, Mbwas Mangut has urged NPFL teams competing in continental tournaments next season, to embark on proper opposition scouting and adopt best practices as they fly the Country’s flag.
Speaking with Brila.net, Mangut explained how the wrong approach to domestic and international games has hindered Nigerian clubs.
“It’s an international game. And why is it different? Because the approach is a little bit more professional in every aspect. Organization, appreciating, and the price tag and the target for the individual should make sure you sell yourself out for a bigger offer.”
In the new season Rangers, Remo Stars, Enyimba and El Kanemi Warriors will represent Nigeria in the CAF Club competitions.
He added, “Everybody in that level throws his all to see that he achieves a lot at this opportunity. So we need to know that and then I hope we transfer the same thing in our local league. We’re not there yet; It’s a work in progress.”
Mangut also warned that teams often struggle because they underestimate the differences between local and international competitions.
“You could see why our teams often struggle, because they always believe it’s going to be the same way. But for those that have been on the continent constantly, they should know the approach there is different.”
