The highly-anticipated NPFL match between Enugu Rangers and reigning champions Enyimba was abandoned deep into stoppage time after fans invaded the pitch disrupting the game.
The match was goalless as it entered added time, however, when center referee John Ojeleye awarded a penalty to the home side, Enugu Rangers, fans of Enyimba stormed the pitch in protest, forcing the match to be abandoned.
Both sides had failed to score throughout the match, mirroring the outcome of their previous encounter in Aba, which also ended in a draw.
This latest disruption leaves the title race unchanged, with Enugu Rangers maintaining their lead at 62 points, followed closely by Enyimba with 60 points.
The league management body is now tasked with deciding the consequences of the incident.
This is the second time in the current campaign that Enyimba has been embroiled in controversy, following a similar pitch invasion by their fans during a game against Doma United.
In other centers, third-placed Remo Stars suffered a significant setback in their title pursuit, losing 3-2 to Lobi Stars in Lafia.
The defeat leaves them three points behind the leaders, Enugu Rangers.
