NFF President, Amaju Pinnick has vowed the Super Eagles will respond in fine style after the shock 2-0 defeat to South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Pinnick said the FA “greatly” regrets losing the 2019 Afcon opener at home, but also enjoined “soccer loving Nigerians” to rally behind the team.
The defeat to South Africa means Nigeria slumped to third spot in group E.
This means the Country is now faced with the arduous task of scoring big points throughout the qualifiers while hoping results elsewhere are favorable.
Speaking on the team’s delicate chances of picking a ticket for the competition, Pinnick stressed that the Eagles are now ‘condemned to respond’.
He thus expressed confidence Gernot Rohr and his team will allay the fears around Nigeria’s bid to return to the Afcon after missing two editions.
