Kano Pillars threw away a first-half lead, but in dramatic fashion turned around a 2-1 deficit to secure a narrow 3-2 win over Asante Kotoko at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on Saturday.
Nyima Nekabari scored the match winner to hand the NPFL side the advantage heading into a tricky second-leg match in Ghana.
Kotoko have won the competition twice – before it was rebranded – but their form in recent times have been less than impressive.
Nonetheless, they fancy their chances of progressing at the expense of the Nigerian club.
Great game from the lads earlier today. Quite a convincing start to our Champions League campaign, and we head back to base on Sunday knowing very well that the job is far from over. FABULOUS!
