Pillars aim to end goal scoring hoodoo against Akwa Starlets

Former champions Kano Pillars will be hoping to halt their goalscoring jinx when they come up against Akwa Starlets in today’s rescheduled match-day two fixture at the nest of champions.

The Sai Masu Gida have started the season very poorly, played five games without a goal, a terrible situation that has called to question the mentality of the team.

Pillars opened their campaign with a barren draw at home to Rivers United, they lost 0-1 to Lobi Stars in kano, drew 0-0 with Wikki Tourists, lost 0-1 against Jigawa Golden Stars before their 0-0 draw with Plateau United in Jos in Matchday 6.

Meanwhile, Akwa Starlets are currently punching above their weight as they are placed third on the league table with eleven points and have scored six goals and conceded two in five matches.

However, the Musa Ibrahim-led side will be counting on their returnee captain, Rabiu Ali as well as established strikers like Nyima Nwagua, Adamu Hassan, David Ebuka to score in today’s match.

This is the first ever meeting between the two sides. Kick-off is 4:00pm.
