In his post-match statement on Monday, Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro delivered a strong message to his players, emphasizing the need to be clinical as they progress in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles secured a 1-0 victory against Guinea Bissau in their final group-stage match, but the three-time African Champions displayed a lackluster performance, especially in front of goal.

Nigeria needed an own goal to beat Guinea Bissau, and despite booking their ticket to the second round, Peseiro was not satisfied with his team’s performance.

The manager demanded improvements from the team in the crucial round of 16 match.

“It’s a new competition that’s starting for us,” He said after the game.

“The most important part of a competition in this CAF Africa Cup of Nations: the knockout matches.

“We will have to be more clinical in front of goal because the slightest mistake will be fatal for us,” He concluded.
