Peseiro Tight-lipped Over His Super Eagles Future

In a recent interview Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro hinted at an uncertain future with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Peseiro’s contract officially concluded on the last day of February, and the Portuguese coach revealed that he has received numerous proposals from both national teams and clubs.

Having guided Nigeria to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where they faced a 2-1 defeat to the hosts, the 63 year-old expressed his need for rest before making any decisions about his coaching career.

“I received a lot of options, a lot of contacts from national teams or clubs. I would say 5, 6 or 7,” he stated. Peseiro emphasized that he intends to take a break and carefully consider the projects offered to him before deciding his future.

“I let them all know that I need to rest and that when my contract expires I will talk about it and start thinking about other projects and decide my future. For now, I need to take a break and be calm.

“But I listen to the proposals and projects that are offered to me. And I evaluate whether I like it or not,” He told goal.com

While keeping all possibilities on the table, Peseiro remained tight-lipped about the approach from the Algerian federation.

He mentioned, “I don’t confirm anything. On the 29th (today), I will decide on my future or start to decide. I can listen to what is offered to me, but I continue to rest.”

With 22 games under his belt since his appointment, Peseiro’s coaching record stands at 11 wins, seven losses, and four draws.
