The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is considering rehiring Jose Peseiro as the head coach of the Super Eagles according to sources.
This move comes amidst stiff competition from South African club Mamelodi Sundowns, according to South African agent Gerald Baloyi.
“Yes, Vodia Sports International Management offered Jose Peseiro to Sundowns, though the Nigerian national teams are interested in bringing him to take over again,” Baloyi revealed to KickOff.
Peseiro previously managed the Super Eagles for two years, leading them to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
His contract expired in February 2024, leading to his departure.
Following Peseiro’s exit, Finidi George took over as head coach but resigned after a string of poor results in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.
Finidi’s resignation has left the NFF in a challenging position, as the Super Eagles is without a Coach.
