KRC Genk head Coach Bernd Storck is furious with the team after falling flat in the home defeat to KAA Gent in the playoff.
Genk lost 2-0 at home to their rivals and the result ended their hope of playing in Europe next season.
Paul Onuachu, who scored in previous game against Charleroi, featured in the game and was guilty of missing some big chances.
“We started this match with high expectations and a lot of confidence,” said Storck. “We have to accept – even if it is difficult – that Gent was a better team.”
“In the offensive compartment we haven’t found the spaces to play our football. It’s a shame. We’re losing our last chance at the Conference League.”
“We tried to make changes and bring fresh players, but we couldn’t create many chances, create or make life difficult for Gent.”
The home defeat brought an end to Genk’s disappointing season, finishing the campaign without a silverware.
