Southampton manager Russell Martin has confirmed that Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu has returned for pre-season training amid ongoing speculation about his future with the club.
Onuachu has only made 11 appearances for Southampton since joining in January 2023 under former manager Nathan Jones.
The 30-year old forward scored 17 goals in 25 appearances during his loan spell at Turkish club Trabzonspor last season.
In a statement to the club’s media, Martin acknowledged the possibility of Onuachu’s permanent departure this summer.
“Paul is back now with us after a bit of an extended break,” Martin said. “He had a brilliant season in Turkey, at a club that has a lot of affection for him now. So, we’ll have to wait and see.”
Transfer rumors continue to swirl around the Nigeria international, with several clubs reportedly interested in securing his services.
