Paul Onuachu proud to score on Trabzonspor debut

Striker Paul Onuachu has reassured Trabzonspor fans that there is no need to worry, after he was substituted during theSuper Lig match against Besiktas.

Onuachu was substituted as a precaution during Trabzon’s 3-0 victory over Besiktas on Sunday.

 

 

Although he was taken off early in the second half, the forward confirmed that the decision was made to avoid exacerbating a potential injury.

The summer arrival, who was given his first start by manager Nenad Bjelica, made an immediate impact by scoring his debut goal for Trabzonspor.

Onuachu found the back of the net with a powerful header from Enis Bardhi’s cross to give his side the lead in the 29th minute.

In a post-match interview with A Spor, the 28 year-old expressed his delight at returning to scoring form after a dry spell in England.

The goal was the striker’s his first league goal since January, when he scored two goals for Genk in a 4-0 triumph over RFC Seraing in the Jupiler Pro League.​

Additionally, he assured the fans that his injury was not severe and will not keep him off the pitch for long.

“I am proud to score a goal in my first match. Everyone fought hard. I think my injury is not very serious. I left the game to prevent it from getting worse,” Onuachu said.
