New Genk manager Bernd Storck came under heavy criticism from the Belgian media for questioning the tactical knowledge of his players, including Paul Onuachu.
Storck replaced sacked John van der Brom two weeks ago but still waiting for his first win after four games.
The latest defeats came in the hands of Rapid Vienna and Gent, and Storck said he was surprised at the poor tactical level of his players.
He went even further by saying youth team players would have understood his instructions better in both matches.
However, Former Genk’s coach Rene Vandereycken has now criticized the new coach for belittling Onuachu and other players in the media.
The Belgian legend added that he has reservations about how Storck started his reigns at the club.
“I have doubts about the way in which Bernd Stork started his assignment at Genk,” said René Vandereycken.
“Not because of the defeat in Ghent, but because of the way he belittled his players after Rapid Wien.”
“With that, he not only attacked the players, but also his predecessor and even youth trainers, including those of Genk.”
“His players may not have been trained according to his ideas, that is possible, but that they would have learned nothing is nonsense.”
“He said that as a staff it took them an hour and a half to discuss all the mistakes of the first twenty minutes. You keep things like that internally.”
Despite scoring 12 goals for Genk in all competitions this season, Onuachu is far from his best and the club has suffered as a result of it.
